Membership of Swindon Green Party has grown by nearly 5 per cent since October and the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow, the party reported today.

In recent weeks the party has run a successful action weekend in St Andrews in north Swindon. Swindon Greens chair Chris Noyce says more action days are planned ahead of the May 2022 local elections, where the Greens are hoping to see their first councillor elected in the borough:

“We're really pleased by this growth and interest from new members, who've told us they're looking for a party in Swindon that will put people and planet ahead of profit.

“We're looking forward to continuing to speak to as many Swindon residents as possible over the coming months to understand their concerns about the issues that affect them, whether it's planning and development, transport, the Oasis, or anything else.

“We're hoping to have a Green candidate standing in every ward in the May local elections to cement our position as Swindon’s third political party and to give as many people as possible the opportunity to vote for a greener Swindon.”
