Our Chairperson, Andy Bentley, is our Parliamentary Candidate for Swindon North, where he stood in the 2017 and 2019 General Elections. He is also Chair of the Swindon Humanist Society.

He is a 55 year old father of two who has lived in Swindon for the last 15 years. As an IT Consultant, Andy has worked for some of the biggest global names in finance, retail and manufacturing.

"I became involved in local politics because, as a Humanist, I believe that each of us should do our bit to make the world a better place.

I grew up in a council house, went to school in a comprehensive school run by the local authority, borrowed books from the public library to help with my homework and fire my imagination. I was the first in my family to ever dream of going to university. Although both my parents worked, it was only because I got a full grant that I was able to go. Without these things I would not be who I am today, and I will fight to give others the same opportunities in life that I have had.

Greens stand up for what they believe in.

I am very proud to be representing the only Party that has consistently been pro-Europe, anti-austerity, and that has always recognised the climate emergency as the number one issue facing us today.

I will fight for strong public services, for good local schools and health services, and for local businesses.

Underpinning everything I do will be the passion for a fair and just society where every person is valued, cared for and listened to."
